7. Process Modeling
Within Gappmaierās holistic participatory-solution-focused methods, process modeling is also a vital part in introduction change or a new method. Not only does it start with new methods but it is already introduced as early as in the design stage of reengineering the organization. Process modeling is simply the laying of existing processes and making all stakeholders aware of the process start to end picture and what its purpose is.
During this process, the stakeholders can better understand the pros and cons of the process. This often leads to immediate suggestions of improvements, or in other words it drives change. And process modeling applied to design new processes will help the participants to envision the entire process from start to end which helps to evaluate and leads to improvements.
Process modeling also has a greater benefit in saving process development costs. Especially programmers and designers use modeling to make sure the process is exactly that what the customers want to have created. Otherwise processes are developed, projects designed and programs written at horrendous costs, only to find out they are not according to what the client wants. That is why the inclusion of client and stakeholders at all stages of process reengineering is important, said Gappmaier (1997).
